New Forum Opening

The Richmond Forum Premieres New Video Overture

Bi-Coastal Creative Team Produces New Video Opening for Nationally-Recognized Series

Over a year ago, The Richmond Forum’s president Edward W. Rucker approached In Your Ear/ IYE Creative Post about ideas for creating a new visual/musical opening for Forum events. The approach was to encompass the concept and mission of the internationally-recognized Richmond Forum (the number one Forum in America) in a large screen two-minute video overture. Clearly a strong team was needed.

The Martin Agency, Richmond's world-renowned advertising firm, was approached to help create and produce the piece. After agreeing to sign on, TMA recruited the amazing visual design talents of Prologue, a Malibu, California-based design company. Prologue is responsible for creating the opening of Spider Man II, the Academy Awards Presentation and many other prestigious projects. So with the team set, the work commenced. With Martin's Joe Alexander supervising creative direction, the visual ideas of Prologue, and an original musical score composed by IYE's Carlos Chafin, The Forum's new opening became a reality.

The debut was November 11 when the featured speaker was Burt Rutan (entrepreneur and designer of SpaceShipOne) and played to a sold out house of over 3,500 patrons. Thanks to production-head Steve Humble, producers Holly Flaisher, Valerie Battenfeld and others at TMA for their help in pulling this massive effort together. Additional thanks to Corbis Images for contributing nearly 60 archival images, and to Richmond-based circle S studio for additional graphic and visual design support.

The Richmond Forum brings the world to Richmond, and The Forum connects Richmond to the global community.
