The Richmond Forum Names New Executive Director
May 28, 2008 — The Board of Directors of The Richmond Forum announced today the appointment of Bill Chapman as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective June 1, 2008.
The board’s decision follows a thorough national search. “In the end, we found that our strongest candidate for leading The Richmond Forum was already right here,” said Board Chairman Jacques Moore. Chapman served on the Board of Directors of The Richmond Forum from 2001 to 2007 and has been a supporter of Forum programs since 1990, as well as a corporate sponsor.
Chapman was previously the co-founder, president, and creative director of RightMinds, a Richmond-based integrated marketing services agency.
“Bill demonstrated to our board that he has a real understanding of The Richmond Forum, as well as a passionate vision for the future of the organization. His years of marketing experience, his new ideas, and his solid reputation among Richmond’s business leaders also made him a very exciting choice,” said Moore.
In recent years, Chapman, a Richmond native, has specialized in helping Virginia-based nonprofit organizations clarify and strengthen their missions and then find innovative new ways to fulfill those missions.
“I am thrilled and honored to take on this new role with The Richmond Forum,” said Chapman. “The Forum is one of the real assets of the Richmond region. No other city in the country can boast such a continuously successful public forum for hearing the ideas, views, and experiences of the world’s best, brightest, and most influential speakers.”
The Richmond Forum will kick off its twenty-third season on November 1st by welcoming Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The Richmond Forum presents distinguished journalists, heads of state and speakers who are internationally known and who are the foremost authorities in their field. Incorporated as a nonprofit educational organization, The Forum offers citizens opportunities to discuss and explore the political cultural and economic trends and issues that shape and affect our lives and our communities today. The Forum’s programs promote a broader understanding of World and International Affairs, Current Events, Arts and Culture, Business and the Economy, Science and Technology, and Faith and Values.
