7 PM – Preview the Menuhin Competition
The Richmond 2021 Menuhin youth violin competition will be hosted as a virtual event. Competitors and guest artists will participate remotely in a unique online event which includes performances by artists including the Richmond Symphony, Sphinx Virtuosi, Mark and Maggie O’Connor, Chloe Chua and Christian Li.
Before Vijay Gupta takes the stage, visit the Exploration Booths to watch a video from VPM about what you can expect from this year’s virtual Menuhin competition, including recitals, masterclasses, panel discussions and engagement programs for and with the Richmond community.
7:30 PM – Music from Høly River
Local band Høly River is founded by multi-instrumentalists Laney Sullivan and Jameson Price and will be joined at The Forum by violinist Jessika Blanks. Their experimental music is inspired thematically by the natural environment and human experience. From harmonium engulfed melodies to mouth-harp stomp grass, Høly River taps into an artistic celebration of internal and external worlds, attempting to bring them closer together with each beat for musical healing.
Don’t miss this unique artistic experience. Høly River will open our evening at 7:30 PM on the Forum Stage, coming to us from Richmond’s In Your Ear Studios.
